Dear Colleagues,
POSTPONEMENT OF THE 61ST ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE
ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN GEOGRAPHERS
Following the directive of the National Council of the Association of Nigerian Geographers on
the above, the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the 61st Annual Conference of the
Association of Nigerian Geographers wishes to inform all members of the Association, other
persons intending to participate in the Conference and the general public as follows:
a.
The 61st Annual Conference billed to take place in September 2020 has been
postponed indefinitely because of the raging COVID-19 pandemic. A new date will be
announced as soon as conditions become suitable to hold the Conference.
b.
Registrations will continue. Consequently, prospective participants willing to
submit abstracts can still do so before the end of July 2020. The LOC has proceeded
with reviews of the 168 abstracts already received.
c.
Some colleagues have made required payments to enable them participate in
the conference. LOC will like to state here that a dedicated bank account has been
opened for the Conference and whatever is paid is secured. Anyone who has made a
payment should keep evidences for future reconciliations;
On behalf of the Head of Department of Geography, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and
the Local Organizing Committee, we wish to state that our thoughts are with the families and
communities who have had some sad experiences in the pandemic. Very certainly, this
difficult time will soon pass away.
The members of the LOC are available to address your concerns and questions about the
Conference at any time.
